Imagine and simulate a post-car world: an interdisciplinary approach to mobility trends in contemporary societies.
Expectations and Objectives
Establish the overall final statements of the project, by collecting, integrating, modelling, mapping, synthesising the contributions of the different components; communicate and interacting with the different components of the project (3 sub-projects, 6 labs, 3 locations); find a common language between different disciplinary traditions (economics, geography, sociology, transport engineering) involved in the project; develop the external communication (information, dissemination, interaction) of the project’s outputs towards non-academic actors.
Professional Requirements
PhD in Geography, Urban Sociology, Urbanism, or other social sciences of space.
Excellent knowledge of urban theory, theory of the inhabited space, and more generally in contemporary social theory.
Excellent skills in cartography (namely a very good practice of a GIS software and of Illustrator).
Excellent skills in statistical methods.
Competences in modelling and programming would be a significant asset.
Excellent capabilities in collective project managing, an open-minded interactivity, a project-oriented leadership.
Languages
Fluency in both French (Francophone environment) and English (main language used within the multilingual inter-regional project team) is required.
German and/or Italian (as Swiss official languages) would be warmly welcome.

Employment rate: 100%
Gross annual salary: CHF 81,000-92,000.
Start: October/November 2013.
Duration: 3 years, possible extension to 3 more years.
